Manufacture Engineer: fundamental in generating and diffusing technological innovations

Manufacture Engineer

Awarded degree: Bachelor in Manufacture Engineering
Duration: minimum of 10 semesters; maximum of 15 semesters

Manufacture engineering encompasses the several technical aspects involved in the manufacture of different products, from their conception to distribution, going through the critical analysis of the techniques and equipment used.

Proposal of Unicamp’s College of Applied Sciences (FCA) is groundbreaking in Brazil, aiming at contributing for meeting the national industry’s strong demand for engineers with strong technical training while also being ready to operate in multidisciplinary teams in solving complex issues.

Students are trained in the areas of manufacturing processes, engineering materials, mechanical design and production management, with a strong science and math background. This set of knowledge is related to the humanistic training offered by FCA, preparing a professional to consciously address the challenges of development and innovation, as well as the technical issues of manufacturing, within an increasingly complex cultural and social context.

During the course, the acquisition of technical knowledge, creativity and communicative skills are stimulated by the students’ elaboration of practical works during the different classes, combining skills for a wide variety of performances. The developed skills prepare the student for the idealizing and conception of a novel project, as well as for activities and manufacturing routines from raw material to the final product. At the same time, the course prepares for monitoring the life cycle of products and processes, reaching decisions on new manufacturing procedures with economic viability and respect for social, cultural and environmental aspects.

What is the practice?

The manufacturing engineers can work in any field where durable or non-durable goods are produced, from the aeronautics to the packaging industry, passing through the automotive and electronics industries.
Their technical-scientific and critical view of manufacturing processes, their inputs and results is strategic for companies in defining the most effective or creative ways of manufacturing, aiming at meeting market opportunities.
